Ilim starts production of coated freesheet

Ilim Group announces that it has launched production of Russia's first coated freesheet. After the machine ramp-up, Ilim Group will produce up to 90,000 tons per year of high-quality matte and gloss double-coated paper, with basis weight ranging from 80 to 150 gsm.

Ilim's coated paper will be available under "Omela" brand in rolls and sheets in the sizes that are most popular in the domestic market.

Ilim presented paper samples at the Polygraphinter 2013 exhibition being held in Moscow this week where some of the largest Russian paper products distributors, customers and large publishing houses are in attendance.

Coated paper is produced at a new line in Ilim's mill in Koryazhma, Arkhangelsk Oblast (Russia) within the framework of its large-scale "Big Koryazhma" investment project worth more than USD 270 million.

Upon completion of this project, Ilim Group's state-of-the-art paper machine and an off-machine coater will combine to produce more than 220,000 tons per year of offset, cut-size and coated paper.
