During the 2010 Forestry Seminar for Communications Media, held on August 10 by the Chilean Wood Corporation, Arauco’s Pulp Business managing director referred to the status of the company’s facilities. He pointed out that the earthquake and tsunami practically shut down all the facilities, but today only Line II at the Horcones Complex pulp mill is still pending and expected to resume operations before the disaster’s first year anniversary. Franco Bozzalla also provided details: "We are taking apart the recovery boiler, which is the mill’s core, and it is long and delicate work".
In addition, Franco Bozzalla addressed participants with a presentation on "The Woodpulp scene: A preview of the industry, markets and estimates".
Also participating in the Seminar were Forest Institute’s executive director Hans Grosse, who presented "The Forest Sector’s Future: a brief history and the potential to be developed"; Mininco Forestry Company’s development manager and CORMA Vice-president Fernando Raga who presented "The Chilean Forestry Industry within the International Context: International market analysis and greater impact variables"; and the manager for CORMA’s Center for Technological Transference of Wood Enrique Escobar who presented "Why Rebuild with Wood?: Current scene, characteristics, standards and innovations".
