Due to the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the procurement environment for raw materials essential for product production has been severely impacted, according to Nippon Paper.

The company prioritizes stable supply and is making every effort to secure necessary raw materials, while also reviewing production plans and adjusting inventory to maintain production and shipments as much as possible.

“However, we have already received price revisions from multiple raw material and fuel manufacturers due to soaring prices of naphtha and other raw materials and fuels, and significant fluctuations are expected depending on the future developments in the Middle East. While we are making maximum efforts to secure raw materials to maintain a stable supply of paper, it has become difficult to secure reproducible profits through self-help efforts alone. Therefore, we have determined that we have no choice but to request a price revision at this time for the continuation of our business and stable supply”, Nippon Paper says in a press statement.
