Under its slogan "Transparent Innovation," Kugler-Womako presented the prototype of the EcoBinder binding machine at Paperworld in Frankfurt, Germany. The binding machine will be presented again in April at the digi:media trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.
With its new EcoBinder, Kugler-Womako is setting off into a totally new direction in regards to binding technology. The binding itself is made of 100 percent paper and meets the requirements for sustainability, something that has become a long-term trend even in the binding industry. With its EcoBinder, Kugler-Womako is not only introducing a new product into the binding sector, but also a new machine technology. As a result of its patented new development, Kugler-Womako, for the first time ever in the binding industry, is using a rotary table instead of the usual linear arrangement that is the standard. The advantages: Because of the circular arrangement of the individual stations, the bound inner body of the book comes back again to its original position, which allows the table to be easily operated by just a single person.
Because of the new paper binding, even end-users in the stationery sector now have the option of using environmentally friendly products. After the binding was presented around the world during the last few months and awarded the Innovation Award from the German Printing Industry at the end of last year, interest in the prototype was accordingly strong. During the four days of the fair, professionals in the industry crowded around the Kugler-Womako booth to see the machine in action.
Wenke Terbuyken, Marketing Manager at Kugler-Womako said, "The response to the paper binding is very positive, especially the feedback from the marketing and advertising sectors. Because it can be printed individually, specialists estimate the market potential of the binding as being outstanding."
