The Nova Scotia government is considering whether to participate in the sale of Northern Pulp’s assets as part of ongoing creditor protection proceedings, according to CBC.
According to the news outlet, NS Resource Minister Tory Rushton says government officials are "actively monitoring" the process for the sell-off of Northern Pulp's assets, but no decisions have been made
The assets include timberlands and a tree nursery belonging to the idled Pictou County pulp mill.
Recently, a British Columbia Supreme court judge cleared a process that will see assets of the closed pulp mill in Pictou County sold off in order to settle debts.

Northern Pulp, formerly operating a kraft pulp mill in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada was a key supplier of bleached softwood kraft pulp. The mill discontinued operations in 2020 following the closure of its effluent treatment facility at Boat Harbour. The company is owned by Paper Excellence. It has since been under creditor protection while its assets, including timberlands and a nursery, are being sold.
